Fort Collins to televise live joint meeting of city, county boards on asphalt plant permit

Fort Collins’ Cable 14 will televise live the joint meeting of the City’s Air Quality Advisory Board and the Larimer County Environmental and Science Advisory Board on Aug. 18. The two boards are meeting to review the draft air permit issued by the State of Colorado for the Martin Marietta Materials Inc. asphalt plant.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at 215 N. Mason, Community Room. This is not a public hearing; only 5 minutes of public comment will be taken at the very beginning of the meeting. The boards are meeting to review and discuss findings of Air Resources Specialists Inc., which was retained by the County and City to perform a technical analysis of the permit.

The boards eventually will provide recommendations for comments on the draft permit to their respective elected officials for submittal to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment by Sept. 3, 2014.

City residents interested in speaking about the permit are being encouraged to attend the September 2 City Council meeting where Council is scheduled to discuss the permit.

The City hosted a listening session in May about the permit application process. For documents related to that listening session, go to http://www.fcgov.com/airquality/. For more information about the state permit, go to https://www.colorado.gov/cdphe/air-permit-public-notices.
