Gavin Kaszynski has announced his intention to run for the PSD Board of Education, District F. He is the father of two children who attend district schools and has 20 years’ experience in finance in the banking, high tech and healthcare fields. He holds a degree in finance and an MBA from the University of Houston and is currently director of finance for Associates in Family Medicine in Fort Collins.
Kaszynski has been active in PSD affairs and has been part of PSD Insight, a leadership program for designed to inform participants about PSD. He is a member of the School Accountability Committee and works on the Budget Advisory Committee. He served for six years on the board of the Fort Collins Housing Corporation, a subsidiary of the Fort Collins Housing Authority.
He has a special interest in making sure that the school district is a good steward of public resources, that “sanity returns to testing madness,” and that the privacy and security of all students is assured.
He is concerned that “teachers are being undermined and their ability to teach is being eroded…As a member of our community I intend to do something about it,” Kaszynski said. He says he is not content to wait for the state legislature or Department of Education to address the mounting list of problems in education.
He is a strong supporter of plans to move ahead with a high school in Wellington and believes it would be wise to separate this endeavor from the planning of new school buildings in southeast Fort Collins.
Kaszynski invites anyone interested to contact him and discuss their issues and concerns.
