Wellington Kum & Go the next stop for E85 fuel for just 85 cents

After going through another 2,400 gallons of E85 in Colorado Springs on June 30, Kum & Go’s E85 promotions are headed to Wellington for the first time this summer.

During June and July, Kum & Go, Colorado Corn and Front Range Energy are teaming up to host a series of promotions to draw attention to Flex-Fuel Vehicles and ethanol, and increase public awareness of E85. The next promotion is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at the Kum & Go store located at 8150 6th St. in Wellington.

Customers will be treated to E85 for just 85 cents per gallon, and representatives of Kum & Go, Colorado Corn and Front Range Energy will be on site spreading the good word about the cleaner-burning, American-made biofuel. Customers will also have a chance to win giveaways at these promotions.

Front Range Energy, an ethanol producer located in Windsor, is taking part in the effort to promote this locally produced, environmentally friendly fuel, by supplying the ethanol for the events.

E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, and is available for use in Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFV). There are more than 200,000 Flex-Fuel Vehicles on the road in Colorado. Check your owner’s manual, or look for a Flex-Fuel insignia on your vehicle or gas cap, to see if you’re driving a Flex-Fuel Vehicle.

  1. The fuel that they are selling is not 85% ethanol, as 85% ethanol gasoline does not meet ASTM standards for vapor pressure. The E85 they are selling is most likely only somewhere between 51-83% ethanol. Wonder why this very important fact is not mentioned to the consumer?
