Hewlett Fire update

Latest from USFS:

The fire is estimated at 982 acres, due to a better estimate and overnight growth. The fire is located less than one mile from Poudre Park. Structures are located near the fire, but none are immediately threatened. Smoke remains visible from Fort Collins.

Business as usual for these rafters on the Cache La Poudre River as smoke from the Hewlett Gulch fire billows on a ridge behind them.

There are currently no evacuations, just discussions for preparedness. A notification was sent to those living in a one mile radius of Mount Mahogany and Gordon Creek Lane. All residents in this area are asked to prepare for a possible evacuation. An evacuation has not been ordered, but you should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.
Smoke is increasing.

The Hewlett Gulch Trail, Greyrock Trail, and the area surrounding the trails are closed.

The heavy air tanker and the Type 1 and 3 helicopters are expected to work on the fire throughout the day.
