SEX AND THE CHOICE CITY: AFTER DARK

t’s like no other night of talks you have ever been
to. Ignite Fort Collins: After Dark ventures south
of Prospect for their third installment on Friday,
March 13 at the Midtown Arts Center. Similar to
regular Ignite talks (www.ignitefortcollins.com),
After Dark is dirtier and intended for the 21+ crowd.
The talks are not just sexual, but lean toward the
highly controversial and bizarre. I have learned so
much from the previous After Dark talks, I cannot
wait to hear what they have next. Friday the 13th in
SoPro will have a whole new meaning this March!
Anyone from our community is welcome to submit
a talk at afterdark.ignitefortcollins.com. You
can literally speak about anything you are passionate
about – even if it’s nerdy, geeky, weird, or contentious.
If you have a real job and want to protect
your identity, you can always use a pseudonym.
Each presenter gets only five minutes to enlighten
the crowd, so they have to make it quick! The
event features 14 speakers and the night generally
runs from 7pm to 9pm with a 30-minute intermission.
People want to hear about those Burning Man
experiences, your erotic cooking stories and the
best way to roll a joint. Somebody please submit
a talk at afterdark.ignitefortcollins.com if you can
explain to me the do’s and don’ts of genital piercing…
please! What’s it like to be a real Furry? These
are topics that are worth teaching others and I’ve
been dying to learn about. Unfortunately, they don’t
qualify as first date material, so I’m stuck with numerous
google searches and unanswered questions.
First-hand accounts of forced orgasms, acid tripping,
doing it with aliens and loving the anal bomb are so
much more interesting when told live, without notes
and with a beer in-hand.
The night consists of the typical risqué sexual topics,
but is also filled with ideas far out on the bleeding
edge that are blatantly honest and politically
controversial. These are ideas and thoughts that will
pull you outside of your comfort zone, all while you
relax in a comfy chair.
Before 2009, our community didn’t have a platform
like this. When Ignite Fort Collins was brought
to town, a whole new world opened up for people
who had something worth sharing! Our community
could teach, preach, educate and connect with the
best and brightest minds. With Ignite Fort Collins:
After Dark, you have an opportunity to express those
thoughts that would otherwise be too taboo for a
normal stage.
SoPro, are you ready for this? We are outing your
secrets, airing your dirty laundry and truth telling,
all in the name of educational entertainment!
Submit a talk, share with a friend and attend the
show. It’s a night of learning and mind-blowing. No
videotaping is allowed and the show will sell out.
What happens after dark, stays after dark… you’ll
just be smarter for having attended.
