Three mailboxes destroyed by homemade explosive devices

Between Aug. 9 and Aug. 10, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received three reports of mailboxes destroyed by apparent homemade explosives. One report indicated the device used consisted of firecrackers wrapped in duct tape.

It appears the explosions occurred shortly after being placed in the mailboxes and there is no indication these incidents were intended as “booby traps” to harm anyone. Fortunately no one has been injured during these incidents.

These incidents occurred during the overnight hours in the following areas of unincorporated Larimer County: 8500-block of S. CR 13, 5600-block of Squires Place, and 900-block of N. CR 5.

All citizens are urged to report suspicious vehicles, activity and persons in their neighborhoods.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 970-416-1985 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868 where you will remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward.
