Through the continual support of the community, the Wellington Fire Protection District announced June 15 the improvement of its Public Protection Classification.
For citizens and businesses within five road miles of a WFPD fire station and having access to a municipal water source, the classification has improved from a 5 to a 3. For those residents and business owners within five road miles of a WFPD fire station but have no municipal water source, the classification has improved from a 7 to a 5. With this new classification, you may see a reduction in your home or business insurance premium. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider to see if the WFPD’s new classification will affect your policy.
The Insurance Services Public Office Protection Classification is based on a grading scale from 1 to 10. A 1 classification represents superior property fire protection, and a 10 classification indicates that the area’s fire protection does not meet ISO’s minimum criteria.
