Hello Kitty Blood Drive Campaign Comes to Northern Colorado

Red Cross donors can receive limited-edition collectibles at September blood drives

Northern Colorado residents will have several opportunities to donate blood in September as the American Red Cross works to keep the national blood supply stable following critically low levels earlier this summer.

The Red Cross is partnering with Hello Kitty® and Friends for a September campaign encouraging blood donations. People who come to donate Sept. 1-20 will receive an exclusive Red Cross × Hello Kitty plush mascot clip and surprise sticker pack while supplies last.

Red Cross officials said the blood supply has improved because of summer donations but remains vulnerable heading into September. Back-to-school schedules, severe weather and natural disasters can reduce donations or force blood drives to be canceled.

Several blood drives are scheduled across Northern Colorado:

• Sept. 1: Raintree Athletic Club, 2555 S. Shields St., Fort Collins, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
• Sept. 1: Eagles Peak Colorado, 500 Apex Drive, Windsor, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Sept. 8: Embassy Suites Loveland, 4705 Clydesdale Parkway, Loveland, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
• Sept. 11: American Legion Post 4, 2124 W. County Road 54G, Fort Collins, noon-5 p.m.

All blood types are needed. Donors can schedule an appointment through RedCrossBlood.org, the Red Cross Blood Donor App or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

The Red Cross says one blood donation can help more than one patient. Donors generally must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health, although eligibility requirements can vary.
