Emergency responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers and local officials gathered Friday for a ribbon-cutting at the newly constructed facility. U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse joined the Larimer County Board of Commissioners and Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen for the ceremony.

“This building is really about being ready, prepared and protecting people. It’s about supporting our first responders,” Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally said. “I know how important it is — especially having first responders in my family — to have the resources to be prepared to step forward for our community when they need help.”

The facility will provide a home base for emergency personnel who respond to incidents throughout Larimer County, including wildland firefighters, paramedics and rescue professionals.

Neguse said $850,000 in federal funding was secured to help build the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office facility.

“In crisis after crisis, the first responders of Larimer County have always shown up with immense speed, bravery, and expertise,” Neguse said. He described the new building as a home base for the many emergency professionals Northern Colorado communities depend on.

The opening comes as Larimer County continues to contend with significant wildfire and emergency-response demands across its large geographic area, including mountain and rural communities where complex incidents can require coordination among multiple agencies.
