FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A longtime Fort Collins winter tradition is expanding into every season.

The Fort Collins Winter Farmers Market will become a weekly, year-round market beginning this fall, while also adopting a new name: Wildcraft Farmers Market.

Organizers say the change will make the Fort Collins market Colorado’s first year-round farmers market, providing shoppers with regular access to local farmers, food producers, artisans and small businesses regardless of the season.

The first weekly Wildcraft Farmers Market is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside Foothills Mall in Fort Collins. Markets will continue weekly under the new format.

The expansion builds on the Fort Collins Winter Farmers Market, which has become a popular cold-weather destination for residents looking for locally grown and produced food after traditional summer markets have ended.

While the Wildcraft name is new, organizers say the market will maintain its focus on supporting Northern Colorado growers, makers and independent businesses.

Until the weekly schedule begins in November, the farmers market will continue its customary every-second-Saturday schedule through Oct. 10.

The transition also creates additional opportunities for local vendors. Farmers, food producers, artisans and other eligible businesses interested in participating in the year-round market can apply through Wildcraft Farmers Market.

Makers Hive Market Coming August 28

Another local market is also approaching in Fort Collins. The Makers Hive Market is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature more than 20 artisans and small-business owners, giving shoppers an opportunity to discover locally produced goods while supporting emerging businesses. Organizers describe the market as both a shopping event and a launchpad for small businesses.

The expansion of the farmers market into a year-round operation represents another step toward giving Northern Colorado producers and entrepreneurs consistent opportunities to reach customers beyond the traditional outdoor market season.
