Ashes to Art auction under way until Oct. 21

Online bidding for 57 artworks created with charcoal from the High Park Fire will continue until 8 p.m. Mountain Time on Oct. 21. Proceeds from the Ashes to Art project will benefit the Poudre Canyon Volunteer Fire Protection District.

Artists from New Jersey to Alaska responded to the call to use a bit of charcoal collected from BLM land within the burn area by Fort Collins photographer Tim O’Hara in August. He and artist Lori Joseph came up with the idea after one of the worst wildlife seasons in Colorado history. They are also creating a book of images of the artwork, which they also plan to sell to raise additional money.
