Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 and 20, independent bookstore Reader’s Cove, at Lemay Avenue and Harmony Road in Fort Collins, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with free books, $1 fiction titles and ever-popular free cupcakes from Fiona’s next door.

Any purchase over $10 earns a copy of local author Mark Hoog’s “Letters from Katrina: Stories of Hope and Inspiration,” a New York Times No. 1 bestselling kid’s book.

On Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Reader’s Cove will team up with United Way of Larimer County for Family Volunteer Day. Tables will be set up so families can work together to make no-sew fleece scarves and blankets for low-income kids and families in the county. Reader’s Cove will also be collecting toiletry items — deodorant, toothbrush or toothpaste — and new hats, gloves, and scarves to donate them to local agencies.
