New VA cemetery in Northern Colorado apparently a double-secret

The Department of Veteran’s Affairs is seeking to purchase 200 acres of land in Northern Colorado, but the details of how, when, where and why are apparently a double-secret.

The VA, or a firm representing the VA, placed a display ad in the Sunday Denver Post earlier in April stating that the agency is looking for “200 acres of land in Northern Colorado for use as a National Cemetery. Land must have rights or access to sufficient water for irrigation.” Owners of perspective property were asked to respond to Savills-Studley, a commercial real estate firm based in New York. Deadline for response was April 22.

The North Forty News tried to contact multiple parties at the VA on multiple occasions, including by phone and email, but the East Cost real estate firm didn’t return our calls. Neither did the folks at the VA.

They’re apparently still reeling from and busy with cost overruns at the new $1.7 billion VA hospital in Denver. Hopefully the cost of the cemetery won’t balloon by 300 percent, but we may never know.
