Nobel-winning economist Paul Krugman to speak at CSU on Oct. 10

Paul Krugman, best-selling author, New York Times columnist and Nobel Laureate in Economics, will give a free public talk at Colorado State University at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.

The talk, “European Welfare States Revised,” will be held in the Griffin Concert Hall at the University Center for the Arts, 1400 Remington St., Fort Collins.

Krugman is known for his expertise in international economics. He won his Nobel for work explaining patterns of international trade and the geographic concentration of wealth. He has written more than 20 books, 200 scholarly articles and 750 columns on economic and political issues for the New York Times, Fortune and Slate.

Krugman earned his doctorate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his master’s from Yale University, and holds professorships at several universities, including Princeton and the London School of Economics.

The event is sponsored by CSU’s Department of Economics and Office of International Programs, as well as Macmillan Publishers.
