After three-and-a-half years as a trustee on Wellington’s Town Board, Ernest Cienfuegos-Baca announced his resignation at the board’s regular meeting on Sept. 24. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve,” Cienfuegos-Baca said.
During his time in office he was active on school, storm water and main street revitalization committees. He urges anyone interested in completing his term, which ends in spring 2014, to apply through the town of Wellington website.
“It’s important that a prospective candidate have a genuine concern for a wide range of issues affecting Wellington,” Cienfuegos-Baca said. He believes a trustee must educate him or herself on all the issues.
Cienfuegos and his wife, Tanya, a sixth grade math teacher at Wellington Middle School, are moving to Windsor to be closer to his new job as an administrator with the Department of Housing and Human Services. Tanya will continue to teach in Wellington and their daughter will continue to attend Wellington schools.
With a master’s degree in non-profit administration, Cienfuegos is returning to a position that matches his skills and experience. In the past he has worked at the Larimer County Workforce Center and was self-employed in the insurance business in Northern Colorado for five years.
