Essentials, including New Belgium beer, for stranded Buckhorn residents arrive via zipline

Phil Bernstein of Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department organized a supply drop, picked up everything and delivered it to a makeshift zipline to be hauled across the raging Buckhorn Creek on Sept. 18. Needless to say, every recipient was more than grateful. Just another example of the way the community pitches in when there is a need.

Donations came from the following local businesses: Eight hundred pounds of food from Larimer County Food Bank, 250 pounds of dog and cat food from Poudre Pet and Feed, two diesel containers from Jax Farm and Ranch, a 1.5 gallon bucket of hydraulic fluid from Team Petroleum, 10 gallons of diesel fuel from NoCo Rebuilding Network and five cases of beer from New Belgium Brewing Company. The NoCo Rebuilding Network supplied volunteers and coordination for the project. Larimer County Sheriff’s officers provided roadblock assistance. RCVFD handled technical backup and radios.
