Feb. 28 is deadline to submit paperwork to run for Wellington town board

All residents of Wellington are encouraged to vote in a municipal election to be held between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1 at the Leeper Center, 3800 Wilson Ave. in Wellington.

The position of mayor is open. Four new trustees will be elected.

Anyone interested in running for any of these positions must pick up a petition and return it to the Town Hall by Feb. 28.

As of this writing, one petition had been picked up for mayor and six petitions for trustee positions had been given out.

A list of candidates will be available at the Town Hall by March 21.

Also on the April 1 election ballot is a referred question: Shall the Town of Wellington increase debt without an increase in taxes for the exclusive purpose of design and construction of the Wellington Community Park?
