Letter: Get outside once in a while

Your recent “editorial” was neither humorous nor informed. Please come out of the enclave in which you seem to have chosen to live, totally out of touch with the deplorable state of our economy.

I have worked with the poor of this country for 30 years and have found far less irresponsibility and fraud than has been manifest in the last few years by our mega-corporations — not the small businesses who are also struggling for survival. (Incidentally, corporations have been deemed people by our “revered” Supreme Court for some blatantly bizarre reason.)

I suggest you get some windows in your office, even go out on the street and talk to these protesters, dare even to visit our areas of greatest distress — not Fort Collins — and witness the fact that we have one of the highest rates of children living in poverty, highest infant mortality, child abuse, inadequate education and concentration of wealth by the few in the industrialized world.

There is no room for disagreement about the sad state of our affairs, nor its cause, the compassionless moral degeneration of those controlling our country.
