Livermore Community Hall has served as a gathering place since 1948. Built on land along the North Fork of the Poudre River donated by local ranchers George and Ernest Roberts, the hall replaced two former community halls no longer in existence.
The hall has been embraced and supported by the surrounding community. There has never been a mortgage on the building and no government money was ever sought to build or maintain it. It has always belonged to the community, never to an individual or organization.
Livermore Community Club members are responsible for the upkeep of the hall. User fees, dances and craft fairs provide the funds needed for utilities, upkeep and insurance. Keeping the building in good repair has been an ongoing challenge according to board member Rene Lee.
Along with the Livermore Woman’s Club, the Livermore Community Club board is seeking funds to replace the drafty, inefficient 68-year-old windows in the building through the establishment of a “Buy a Window Fund.”
Lee explains that they are encouraging community members, those who provide services to Livermore, road associations and individuals to consider buying a window for the building. Donations are tax deductible.
“Donating is more than a nice gesture,” Lee says. “It is an assurance that our community will always have a place to gather and continue the rich history of Livermore.”
Windows range in price from $670 to $1,330. Donations of $100 or more will be mentioned on a plaque. Checks can be made payable to Livermore Community Hall and mailed to Rene Lee, P.O. Box 53, Livermore, CO 80536.
