Long Draw Road reopens Aug. 22

Long Draw Road, located towards the top of the Poudre Canyon, will reopened Aug. 22 for the rest of the season. Hazardous tree removal continues to take place, so visitors can expect delays, noise and a changed landscape.

Camping is only allowed at the Long Draw and Grandview campgrounds. The Trap Lake Trailhead and fishing at Long Draw Reservoir are also accessible. Parking in some areas may be very limited.

Visitors need to use caution as hazardous tree removal work continues to take place. Logging trucks and equipment are in use throughout the area. There will be flaggers on the road when work is occurring and there could be delays up to 30 minutes throughout the week and weekends. No trailers are allowed on the Peterson Lake Road.

Information on the status of roads is available on the Canyon Lakes Roads Status website at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/roads.

It is also important for folks to make safety your top priority when heading into the forest. Remember your safety is your responsibility. Live and dead trees can fall without warning, especially with the abundance of saturated soil throughout the forest. Be sure to know weather conditions before heading out.
