Mail-in ballots can be dropped off in person Monday and Tuesday

If you are part of the 51 percent of Larimer County voters who received a mail-in ballot but hadn’t returned it by Halloween — and you know who you are — you can drop off the completed ballot on Monday or Tuesday and still have it count in the Nov. 6 election.

Early voting sites will be open Monday until 5 p.m. for mail-in ballot drop off and replacement only, according to county Clerk and Recorder Scott Doyle. Two sites will even offer drive-in drop-off on Monday:

• Across the street on the west side of the Larimer County Courthouse in Fort Collins, in the old Steele’s Market parking lot.
• At the curb outside the west side of the Sixth Street Motor Vehicle office in Loveland, on Lincoln Avenue just north of the Sixth Street intersection.

These same locations will also offer drive-in ballot drop off on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

All 24 Vote Centers will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registered voters in Larimer County can vote in any one of the centers; no need to find your precinct polling place. Click here to find the Vote Center closest to you. Completed mail-in ballots can be dropped off there as well.

More than 75 percent of county voters have opted for mail-in ballots this year. Historically, 25 percent of those voting by mail wait until the last few hours of Election Day to turn in their ballots.

“If even 20 percent of voters wait to return their ballots this year,” Doyle said, “that’s more than 32,000 ballots that must be processed, and we will see delays in reporting of results Election Night.”
