Experience storytime like never before as local children’s book illustrator, Cathy Morrison, reads her book The Prairie that Nature Built, 9:30 a.m. July 7 in the OtterBox Digital Dome Theater at the Museum of Discovery in Fort Collins. And before kids see the pages turn on the big screen, they can make a nature pendant to take home. An event for all ages; $8/$6 for members. Experience Spontaneous Fantasia, a live musical visual experience that has been compared to laser shows or a Pink Floyd concert updated for the 21st century. Multi-media artist J-Walt uses the latest in interactive computer graphics techniques to bring paintings to life. The Northern Colorado Weavers Guild is hosting Fiber Celebration 2016, an international juried show at the Community Creative Center, 200 Mathews St. in Fort Collins, July 13 through Aug. 6. The awards reception and gallery talk with the juror will be July 27, and will be included in the First Friday Gallery Walk in August. Pieces in the show represent fiber media: weaving, spinning, dyeing, basketry, sculpture, felting, quilting, paper making, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. Fort Collins Symphony announces its 2016-17 season, Masters, Marvels & Magic. Now in its 67th season, the fully professional orchestra is under the leadership of award-winning conductor Maestro Wes Kenney. Guest artists include previous Young Artist Competition winner pianist Xinyu Chen and two of the New York Philharmonic’s pre-eminent musicians: Assistant concertmaster Michelle Kim and principal trombonist Joe Alessi.

The season begins Oct. 8 with Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The second Masterworks program on Nov. 5, features Symphony No. 1 and Violin Concerto No. 2 and Bizet’s Symphony No. 1 in C.

Highlights of Masterworks 3 on Feb. 4 includes Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dances from On the Town, Rouse’s Trombone Concerto and Brahms Symphony No. 4. The orchestra will perform Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 for the March 4 Masters of Our Universe concert. For the March 24 Pops concert, the orchestra will present an entertaining evening of music composed by the Marvelous Magical Movie Master John Williams. The season concludes with Power & Pyrotechnics on May 13, with music written by Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov and Bruckner.

Bohemian Nights announced recently an all-Colorado lineup of 80-plus bands slated to perform during this year’s Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest, Aug. 12-14 a free, three-day music festival held each August in historic downtown Fort Collins.

Granny-nominated orchestral indie band DeVotchKa, known for their acclaimed score for “Little Miss Sunshine” will headline Aug. 12, at 8:30 p.m. Alternative rock band The Fray, known for several hit singles including “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and “How to Save a Life,” will headline Aug. 13, at 8:30 p.m. Headliner performances take place on the Mountain Avenue Stage.

Performing across six outdoor music stages, artists in this year’s lineup include SHEL, long-time Northern Colorado folk favorites featured at South by Southwest and on MTV; Brent Cowles, singer-songwriter founder of You Me & Apollo; Silver & Gold, Greeley-based alternative rock group and Tickle Me Pink, Fort Collins rock favorite.
