Teresa Cagno, 16, a freshman at Poudre High School in Fort Collins, is no stranger to the awards arena at the Wellington Boys and Girls Club. As an eighth grader she received the club’s award for the most notable youth of the year.
On Jan. 16, she received the notable youth of the year award again. “She was honored a second time for being an all-around good person,” Boys and Girls Club director Pedro Lopez said.
She received the award during the fifth annual Boys and Girls Club awards presentation. Josiah Griffin, a home-schooled ninth grader, was runner-up.
Recipients of the award are chosen from Youth of the Month award winners from throughout previous the year. Eight students were honored at the ceremony held at the Leeper Community Center in Wellington.
Cagno has been a regular at the Boys and Girls Club after school since she was 6. She looked forward to playing, visiting with friends and making use of the art room when she was younger. These days she works as a junior staff member, giving a helping hand wherever it is needed.
She loves interacting with young children and explains that her big family is very important to her. She’s a music lover who played the cello for four years and is now focusing on voice as a soprano in the Poudre High School choir. She’s also interested in art and photography and enjoys reading.
She hopes to attend college in either Wisconsin or California, where she has family, and is already thinking about earning a master’s degree, possibly in music.
Cagno attended Eyestone Elementary and Wellington Middle School.
