Wellington High School Now forms on Facebook

Chad Zadina, a Wellington resident, parent and owner of Tabby Road Animal Hospital, has established a Facebook page in order to provide the Wellington community with a central voice to address the possibility of building a high school in town.

“I wanted a place where people could voice their opinions,” Zadina said. “I was feeling like we were fragmented and wanted a way to channel our feelings to a central place.” The site is called “Wellington High School Now.”

Zadina responded to a need felt by many. After two days the page had 322 likes and several thoughtful suggestions from forming a political committee to reaching out to regional news outlets. Matthew Bowen suggested building a community of supporters along the Front Range that are favorable to the cause.

Trustee Tim Singewald announced a tour of Liberty Commons School for March 5 and a presentation to the trustees work session by Bob Schaffer, Liberty Commons principal, on March 10.

Singewald’s post goes on to say that there has been no word from Poudre School Board regarding including a Wellington High School in their 10-year plan and that Wellington’s K through 9 classes are quickly nearing capacity.

Wellington parent Sarah Seleta Nothnagel shared her reservations about a charter school so focused on excellence that some children with disabilities may be left out.

The Facebook page exists for anyone to share their opinions. Zadina has sent the link to the Poudre School Board so that they can be kept up to date on the community’s hopes and feelings.
