Wellington man beaten after shooting at intruders

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the 8100-block of South 1st Street in Wellington at 8:13 p.m. on Nov. 29 on the report of an assault.

The reporting party arrived at the home to find the 28-year-old male resident injured and bleeding. The male resident allegedly fired one shot from a long gun at two intruders but did not hit anyone. The gun was then apparently taken from the man and used to assault him. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

The suspects are known to the victim and investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is continuing and no arrests have been made at this time.

No additional information will be provided while the incident remains under investigation.
