Fort Collins, CO—Wolverine Farm Publishing has opened nominations for the 2018 Fort Collins Poet Laureate—the sixth installment of the Fort Collins Poet Laureate program.  To be eligible, poets must live in Fort Collins, and be willing to serve the community in the name of poetry. Past poet laureates have held readings, published poems, visited schools, and led workshops. The winning poet will serve from April 2018 to April 2019, and will be involved in the selection of the next poet laureate.
To nominate yourself, or your favorite local poet, please submit the poet’s name, contact information, sample of their poetry, and why you think the poet will be a good fit for the poet laureate position via Wolverine Farm’s website. Wolverine Farm staff and volunteers will select three nominees from the entries, and open the nominations up to public vote. The public vote will count as one-third of the voting process, with Wolverine Farm staff as another third, and the final third by 2017 poet laureate, Felicia Zamora.
The winning poet will receive a $250 honorarium supported by the Jason Sheppard Greer and Lucy Kim Greer Foundation for the Arts.
Please send your entries using the online form on Wolverine Farm’s website, or drop them off in person at Wolverine Farm’s Letterpress & Publick House (316 Willow Street) by March 15th, 2018. Voting will take place between March 19th – 31st. The winning poet will be announced the first week of April during National Poetry Month. If you have any questions please call the Publick House at 970-682-2590 or email Todd Simmons at todd@wolverinefarm.org.
