Foothills Unitarian Church, 1815 Yorktown, Fort Collins –  Saturday, March 3 – 8:30 – 3:00

Colorado 50-50 is a nonpartisan, educational group formed in the spring of 2017 by a circle of women in Fort Collins, Colorado. Their mission is to encourage the election of office-holders to more closely reflect the population. In other words, since women make up more than 50% of the population, then women should hold at least 50% of the seats. Colorado has never had a woman governor or a woman U.S. senator.

Vote Run Lead has more than 26,000 women trained to run for office. Their website cites in a 2014 study that of over 42,000 elected officials nationwide, 90% are white. This is in a country that is 37% people of color. The website also reports that 71% of elected officials are male, even though men comprose only 49% of the population of the U.S.

In this workshop, Colorado 50-50 presents the national organization, VoteRunLead(VRL), the largest and most diverse campaign and leadership program in the country. The mission of both these organizations is to educate diverse women to unleash their independent political power, seek public office and transform American democracy. This VRL full-day workshop, Run as You Are, will equip women with the right know-how, trainings and how-to’s to help them enter politics with a purpose. We believe that by empowering women to run as they are, they will build a campaign based on their own passion, their own ideas and their own values. This VoteRunLead workshop is also for women who are not looking to run for office but rather to support those women who are running. This training will provide skills for all.
