The Citizen Police Academy focuses on how Fort Collins police operate in the community. Law enforcement is a profession that is continually changing and evolving. This program will allow citizens to experience conditions similar to those experienced by police officers in their training and on the job.

Participants meet one evening a week for eleven weeks. Training topics will include segments on the department’s K-9 unit, gang unit, crime scene investigations, officer survival techniques, the District One project and many other components of the policing in Fort Collins. Participants are additionally asked to ride with a police officer at least once.

For applications or additional information, contact Sergeant Doug Smith at 970-221-6832 or at [email protected]. The deadline for submission of applications is July 19.
