Caution urged around Red Feather Lakes log hauls

Due to hazardous fuels reduction and hazard tree cutting projects, logs are being removed throughout the Roosevelt National Forest this summer.

Currently, log hauling is taking place in the Red Feather Lakes area. Approximately four to six loads a day are being hauled along Forest Service Roads 235, 180A, and 181 and County Roads 73C, 67J, and 80C. Operations on this project are likely to occur for the next two to three months.

Log trucks are carrying large, heavy loads. Drivers are urged to use caution, keeping a safe distance behind trucks and providing ample space between vehicles.

Operations will take place later this summer in the Long Draw Road area, which is currently open for day use only, the spur roads along the Laramie River Road, the Deadman Road area, and in the Roach, located in the northwest portion of the Canyon Lakes Ranger District. Additional information about these activities will be sent when those projects get started.
