Fort Collins seeking feedback on housing, community development plans

The City of Fort Collins will host an open house Jan. 12 on the results of a community questionnaire about the next five years of housing and community development needs.

The meeting will be 4-6 p.m. in the Community Room of 215 N. Mason St. Light refreshments will be served.

Every five years, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires the City to prepare a plan for housing and community development needs.

Representatives from Community Strategies Institute, consultants for the project, will share a presentation from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Audience participation and questions are encouraged. The January 12 open house will cover, among other things:

• Research results and data on demographics and housing market analysis
• Results of the project’s community questionnaire
• Tie-in to other City projects and work being done in affordable housing and human services
• Preliminary priorities and actions.

The five-year HUD Consolidated Plan, which must be approved by City Council, outlines a community snapshot of affordable housing and human services, assesses needs and gaps, and sets courses of action and priorities for achieving goals in these areas. The plan is designed to complement and enhance current City documents, policies and priorities in these arenas.

A Spanish interpreter will be available at the open house. The City will fulfill reasonable requests for accommodations or interpreters in other languages. For more information, call 970-416-2253.
