Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called at approximately 10:30 a.m. on April 8 to assist the Glacier View Fire Department with a garage on fire in the 1000-block of Happy Jack Road that was being used as a marijuana grow house. Both Larimer County Emergency Services and Livermore Fire were alerted due to the concern that the blaze could expand into a wildland fire.
The Glacier View Fire Department was successfully able to extinguish the fire before it expanded into a more serious fire. Approximately 60 marijuana plants were destroyed in the fire.
While the fire investigation is not complete, preliminary indications are the fire was caused by an overloaded electrical box which was providing power to the marijuana grow. Marijuana grows typically have high electrical requirements to power lights and fans.
While Larimer County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking into the incident, it is unlikely that criminal charges will be applicable.
