Larimer County Treasurer: 150,000 tax notices have been mailed

Larimer County Treasurer Myrna Rodenberger said on Jan. 24 that the mailing of the 2013 tax statements is complete.

Nearly 150,000 tax notices have been mailed, including 139,469 real-property, 5,037 personal-property, 5,571 mobile-home and 215 state-assessed tax bills. Rodenberger also said payment of these taxes will produce more than $372 million for Larimer County taxing authorities, $4 million more than was billed last year.

These tax statements are for the taxable year 2013, and became due Jan. 1, 2014. However, in accordance with state law, the taxpayer has the option of paying the full amount of taxes in a single payment no later than Wednesday, April 30, or payment can be made in two equal installments. The first installment must be paid no later than Friday, Feb. 28, with the second installment to be paid no later than Monday, June 16. Because the statutory June 15 deadline falls on a Sunday, payments will be accepted as current through June 16.

Taxpayers using the half-payment option are reminded to file their second-half payment coupon in a convenient place for June remittance, as a second-half notice will not be mailed.

Mail payments to Larimer County Treasurer, P.O. Box 2336, Fort Collins, CO 80522. To ensure proper credit, please include your schedule number on your check.

Rodenberger reminds all taxpayers that failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the taxpayer from his or her obligation to pay taxes and encourages any property owners that have not received a tax notice by Jan. 31 to call the Larimer County Treasurer’s Office at 970-498-7020.
