NoCo Rebuilding Network gives $60,000 in grants

The NoCo Rebuilding Network awarded its second round of grants, this time totaling $60,000, to support sustainable rebuilding efforts for those affected by last year’s High Park and Woodland Heights Fires.

These devastating fires burned more than 89,000 acres and destroyed 284 homes. To date, NCRN has raised more than $200,000 distributed to more than 50 survivors. NCRN funded these grants entirely through local fundraising events, direct donations, as well as through private and business donors.

Applicants who lost their primary residences in Larimer County and are rebuilding are eligible for the grants. In addition to the grant program, NCRN also offered a free educational series on a variety of sustainable rebuilding topics, access to donated and discounted building materials and a coalition of local businesses, individuals, and over 100 building professionals, many whom volunteer their time helping survivors rebuild.

“Rebuilding safer, stronger, and smarter not only helps the people and communities of the fire areas but also benefits the surrounding communities and all of Colorado,” explained NCRN President and co-founder, Phil Benstein.

The NoCo Rebuilding Network is a local nonprofit that was formed in the spring of 2011 and now has grown into a well-established organization that is ready to respond to the next disaster. NCRN is 100 percent volunteer run and exists to rebuild community one safer, stronger, smarter house at a time in Larimer County.
