“Rally for Rural Colorado” protest targets alternative energy mandates

A coalition of lawmakers, organizations and concerned individuals opposing SB-252, a bill passed by the legislature that increases alternative energy mandates for rural electric providers, will be gathering at Johnson’s Corner on Wednesday to ask the governor to veto the bill.

The rally is taking place from 5 to 7 p.m. on May 15 at Johnson’s Corner Truck Stop and Restaurant, 2842 South East Frontage Rd, just south of Loveland on Interstate 25.

“Unless Gov. Hickenlooper hears from rural Colorado, and brings out his veto pen, SB-252 will become law and rural ratepayers will pay an unnecessary $4 billion in the years ahead, just so a group of urban lawmakers, whose constituents are unaffected, can pretend to be doing something about climate change,” explained Americans for Prosperity deputy state director Sean Paige.
