Rocky Mountain Farmers Union co-sponsoring March 21 industrial hemp workshop

The Hemp Industries Association will host a symposium on industrial hemp farming at The Ranch in Loveland on March 21 starting at 6 p.m. The workshop will familiarize agricultural producers with the issues, risks, and potential of industrial hemp as a cash crop.

The program will feature speakers on how hemp is grown and processed, what markets exist, and realistic expectations for farmers interested in growing the crop. The legal and political status of hemp at the state and federal level will also be discussed. Speakers will include Colorado Sen. Gail Schwartz, who will address questions about legislative efforts for fleshing out Colorado’s industrial hemp law.
