Small grants available for community, neighborhood projects

Applications are now being accepted for Larimer County Department of Natural Resources’ Small Grants for Community Partnering program for the 2016 grant cycle.

Applications are due by 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, with awards announced by February.

Community Message

These grants are offered to individuals, organizations, groups, and homeowner and property owner associations for community, neighborhood and group projects for:

• Protection or enhancement of open space, trails, natural areas, wildlife habitat, river areas and wetlands
• Agriculture
• Increased access to open lands and natural areas
• Research on open spaces.

The Small Grants for Community Partnering application, selection criteria and other information are available online at www.larimer.org/naturalresources/openlands/smallgrants.htm or in person at the Department of Natural Resources’ office at 1800 S. County Road 31 in Loveland, Colo.

These grants are funded by the Help Preserve Open Spaces sales and use tax. Annually, $20,000 is set aside from the tax funds for individual grant awards up to $2,000 per project per year. Since 2008, the county has awarded $207,233 for 143 community and neighborhood projects.
