Stuart Hole Fire 80 percent contained

Another good day fighting the Stuart Hole Fire in northwest Larimer County Wednesday has resulted in 80 percent containment of the 227-acre fire, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department.

Ground crews were aided again by a light helicopter doing water drops. Current cost estimate for fighting the fire is $324,000.

The fire, which was caused by lightning, was reported northwest of Livermore, south of Halligan Reservoir, on Monday, June 4, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Smoke and possibly flames will continue to be visible in the area for some time .

Road restrictions have been lifted beginning at 6 p.m. Area residents and visitors are advised to drive with caution as emergency vehicles will still be in the area.
