Sustainable Living Association celebrating businesses who have made exemplary contributions to sustainability in NoCo

The Sustainable Living Association announces the Sustainability Contribution Awards Dinner, recognizing individuals and groups who have made exemplary contributions to sustainability in the Northern Colorado region, on Friday, Nov. 15 from 6 – 10 p.m. in the Agave Room above the Rio Grande Restaurant, 143 West Mountain in Fort Collins.

At the awards dinner, one nonprofit organization and one business headquartered in Northern Colorado will be honored for making a significant and positive impact toward the conservation and preservation of our planet for current and future generations. New this year is the presentation of a Special Recognition Award to the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas and Floodplain Management for their efforts during the September 2013 Poudre River flood.

The winning business and nonprofit will receive a free booth at the 15th Sustainable Living Fair, schedule to take place on Sept. 13-14, 2014.

“These nominees demonstrate that business and an environmental conscience are not mutually exclusive. Some finalists have identified a business opportunity that both improves the environment and provides employment for themselves and others. Other groups and individuals show the level of dedication and commitment that exists in communities across Northern Colorado, working to care for our environment,” says Kellie Falbo, Executive Director of the SLA.

Four organizations have been nominated in the Outstanding Nonprofit category and the winner will be selected by a “People’s Vote,” which closed on Nov. 8 and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Nov. 15:
