Wellington Food Bank accepting donated turkeys Nov. 20 for families in need of Thanksgiving meals

Wellington Food Bank will be accepting donated frozen turkeys for redistribution to its clients on Tuesday, Nov. 20 starting at 12:30 p.m. at Wellington Community Church. The turkeys will be distributed to needy families at 2 p.m. the same day.

The food bank is operated by the Zion Lutheran Church and open Nov. 20 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Wellington Community Church, 8445 Third Street in Wellington. For November and December, the food bank is open the first and third Tuesdays; all other months, the food bank is open the second and fourth Tuesdays.

Rice Elementary is collecting canned and boxed food for the Wellington Food Bank, along with frozen turkeys. Help support our local food bank by sending in items with your students. Classes are competing to see who can bring the most items.

Boxed and canned food will be collected in homerooms from Nov. 12 to 20. Bring frozen turkeys on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 20. Drop off in front of the school is from 7:45 – 8:15 a.m.
