Wellington Middle School garners Governor’s Distinguished Improvement award

Wellington Middle School and eight other Poudre School District schools have been selected for the 2013 Governor’s Distinguished Improvement awards.

Colorado Department of Education gives the award to schools that demonstrate excellent student growth. Winning schools exceed expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth over three years, which is a part of a school performance framework used by the state to evaluate schools. In 2013, 130 Colorado schools earned this award.

Community Message

The Colorado Department of Education celebrated the 2013 district and school performance results in an awards ceremony recently at the Colorado Department of Education with Commissioner Robert Hammond honoring schools and districts. Each year the CDE recognizes schools that have shown high achievement.

Other PSD schools selected for the 2013 Colorado Governors Distinguished Improvement Awards are: Bethke Elementary School, Harris Bilingual Elementary School, Liberty Common Charter School, Lopez Elementary School, O’Dea Elementary School, Traut Core Knowledge Elementary School, Werner Elementary School, and Zach Core Knowledge Elementary School.
