15-year-old female airlifted after ATV accident in Buckhorn area

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call at approximately 11:52 a.m. today regarding an accident involving a 15-year-old female who was riding an ATV on private property with her brother. The siblings had permission to be on the private property as they were helping to build a fence on that land.

According to the information provided by the brother, he asked his 15-year-old sister to go get a drill and she took off on her ATV to obtain that tool. Shortly thereafter the brother heard his sister scream and went to find that his sister had apparently rolled the ATV she was riding on and the ATV landed on top of her.

The brother (unknown age) was able to get the ATV off of his 15-year-old sister and then loaded her up on his ATV and drove her down to the nearest home, which was approximately one hour away where emergency medical services were then dispatched. This home is located on the 400-block of Granite Road, which is in the Crystal Mountain Road/Buckhorn area of Larimer County.

A helicopter was dispatched to pick up the 15-year-old female to fly her to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment where she is currently being seen for her injuries. At last word the 15-year-old female was unconscious and unresponsive.
