Bellvue marijuana grow operation shut down by Larimer County Sheriff

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Impact Unit shut down a large marijuana grow in Bellvue on Sept. 20. Investigators served search warrants on three addresses associated with the grow and recovered 375 pounds of marijuana including 154 live marijuana plants and numerous 500-gram bags of processed marijuana packaged and labeled for distribution. Also recovered were 22 ounces of hash, a variety of prescription-type controlled substances, six rifles and a handgun.

Investigators arrested Asa Ziebell and Katie McCormick, both of Fort Collins. The pair were each arrested for three felony marijuana counts as well as being classified as special offenders. The marijuana counts include possession, possession with intent to distribute and cultivation. It is believed the couple moved here two years ago from Lacrosse, Wisconsin for the express purpose of growing and distributing marijuana.

Search warrants were served on three properties in the 2000-block of Davis Ranch Road, the 600-block of La Escena and the 600-block of North Shields.

The investigation began several weeks ago after a tip from a concerned citizen reporting suspicious activity at a large greenhouse at the La Escena address.

Additional charges and arrests are anticipated.
