True to its roots, the Charlie Milo Trio brings a little bit of everything that is the Colorado music scene. The Trio’s latest release, The Very Best Reason to Reason, blends jazz, bluegrass, funk and soul into their feel-good jam band sound. The Colorado Springs-based band centers itself on Milo’s heavy, funky bass lines, incorporating some psychedelia into their tight-knit jams (check out “Electric Blueberries” and “Pink Drapes”). The Very Best Reason to Reason introduces itself with light-hearted, upbeat roots rock (“Have Another Drink On Me,” “Have Another Interlude”) before delving into more seemingly experimental, yet oddly catchy forays on its latter half (“Orange Rainwater”). The Charlie Milo Trio is, to put it simply, a solid band, something to bob the head to on a Saturday night. Keep your eye out for the Trio on their many stops along the Front Range this summer.
