Dental benefits now available for qualifying seniors age 60+ in Larimer County

Seniors who are recipients of pensions or Medicaid public assistance now may be eligible to receive limited dental benefits. For Larimer County residents, dental services will be available from the Health District of Northern Larimer County in Fort Collins and Sunrise Community Health Center in Loveland, as well as from some private dentists.

Services covered under the Old Age Pension Dental Assistance Program include exams and X-rays, cleanings, dentures and denture repair, partials, denture re-lines, extractions and restorations. There may be a co-payment for these dental services.

To qualify for the Old Age Pension Dental Assistance Program, an individual must be 60 years or older, live in Colorado, and receive Old Age Pension or Medicaid public assistance from the state of Colorado.

The Old Age Pension program was established in 1936 to provide financial and health-care assistance to Colorado residents age 60 and older. A dental benefit was added in 1977, but funding was discontinued in 2009. The dental program was reinstated in 2012, and some Medicaid recipients over 60 also became eligible for Old Age Pension dental benefits. Funding became available this year to serve Larimer County residents.

For more information on the Old Age Pension Dental Assistance Program, Larimer County residents can contact the Health District at 970-224-5209.
