Festival this weekend raises money for Rist Canyon volunteer firefighters

The 18th Annual Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction and Rist Canyon Mountain Festival fundraiser for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department takes place Sunday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department operates with zero tax dollars and instead relies on donations for equipment and operating expenses.

Join thousands of people who come to Rist Canyon, eight miles west of Bellvue, for an afternoon of mountain fun that includes the state’s premiere fine art auction, a huge used book sale, old-fashioned bake sale, mountain craft market, vintage car show, fire trucks on display, great food and free ice cream.

Music and entertainment will be provided by Rich With Friends, Rocky Mountain Belly Dancing Company, Free Range Pickens, Hot Gazpacho and Anderson & Page.

Free parking and free admission. $3 minimum donation suggested. Info at 970-482-2338 or visit www.richardschmidauction.com.
