Hewlett Gulch area evacuated again

About 48 hours after residents were allowed to return to homes in the Hewlett Gulch area, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department issued another mandatory evacuation order, effective at 2 p.m. Friday.

Residents on Hewlett Gulch Road, Deer Meadow Way, Gordon Creek Lane and all connecting roadways in that subdivision, as well as all residents on North Rim Road and the small roads running off it, including Hidden Canyon Drive, Willow Mountain Court, Elkhorn House Road and Deep Cut Road have received notices to leave the area immediately. A total of 121 notifications were sent.

The order was issued due to high winds that have fanned several spot fires in the area.

There will be a citizens’ briefing at 3 p.m. at the evacuation center at The Ranch, I-25 and Crossroads Boulevard.
