High Park Fire victims will share stories about insurance problems at Aug. 29 public hearing

Homeowners who lost their homes and possessions to the High Park Fire will share their experiences about the aftermath of the fire, including problems they are facing with their insurance companies, at a public hearing scheduled for Aug. 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Commissioners’ 1st Floor Hearing Room at the Larimer County Courthouse, 200 W. Oak St. in Fort Collins.

The state insurance commissioner, state legislators, representatives of Gov. John Hickenlooper’s office and county commissioners will participate in this public hearing to identify potential solutions.

Participants include:
• Reps. John Kefalas (D-Fort Collins), Randy Fischer (D-Fort Collins), Claire Levy (D- Boulder) and B.J. Nikkel (R-Loveland)
• Colorado Insurance Commissioner Jim Riesberg
• Representatives of Gov. John Hickenlooper
• Larimer County Commissioner Lew Gaiter

Homeowners impacted by the Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs or the Woodland Heights fire in Estes Park have also been invited.
