Our View: Keep out of the classroom, or else

Transitional Colorado Assessment Program testing is under way in local schools. We’re not allowed to show you the process — even if we wanted to — according to the Colorado Department of Education. If we run across a viral video of the test in progress, we’ll send around the link. Now, back to more important things — like watching paint dry.

The Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (TCAP) testing is currently occurring in Colorado schools. The electronic and print media are reminded that no reporters, photographers or videographers are allowed into classrooms when TCAP is being administered. In addition, test security procedures prohibit the sharing of test booklets or test items with any outside entity, including the media. Media interested in understanding what content is included on the assessment are encouraged to review the assessment frameworks at http://www.cde.state.co.us/assessment/CoAssess-FrameworksAndFactSheets.asp. Sample CSAP items, which are similar to TCAP items in format, may be viewed at http://www.cde.state.co.us/assessment/CoAssess-Released.asp We appreciate your assistance in maintaining the integrity of the assessment.

Thanks,
The CDE Communications Office
