Laramie Old Time Ranch Tour hits the trail July 20

The Laramie Kiwanis Club’s Annual Old Time Ranch Tour of 2013 will be headed to Encampment, Wyoming. This year’s tour promises to be filled with adventure, scenic beauty and rewarding experiences. Each year, the Ranch tour has provided Northern Colorado and Wyoming residents with a unique opportunity to learn about ranch history.

For the 2013 tour, participants will meet their guides at the turnoff from Wyo. Highway 127 to Highway 125 in Colorado, west of Woods Landing, north of Walden and south of Encampment. From there we will head to the Big Creek Ranch where Mark Dunning will tell about the ranch and its history. Next we will head to the Encampment Museum, where John Varner will tell about the history of Encampment and the great cooper mine followed by tours of the museum.

We’ll have lunch at the museum grounds and the adjacent encampment park where a Cowboy poetry event sponsored by the Encampment Lions club will be taking place. The Lions club has welcomed our guest to check out their booths and buy food that is sold at this event. After lunch, we will head out to the Silver Spur ranch overlook (Cow Creek Ranch) for a view of the valley and the history of the ranch provided by Irena Archer.

Everyone is invited and attendance is free. We look forward to seeing you on July 20 at 9:30 a.m.
