Larimer County Farmers’ Market opens May 14

The 41st Annual Larimer County Farmers’ Market will open Saturday, May 14 at 200 West Oak Street in downtown Fort Collins, from 8 a.m. to noon. The market will operate each Saturday through October 22.

The market is gearing up for another wonderful season, with over 90 vendors selling a variety of products throughout the year, including fresh vegetables and fruit, wine, kombucha, dog treats, baked goods, cheese, meat, eggs, coffee, cut flowers, bread and handcrafted jewelry. The market is sponsored by the CSU Extension Office in Larimer County and operated by the Larimer County Master Gardener program.

The market will continue to offer matching coupons for individuals who qualify for SNAP, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly food stamps). SNAP recipients use their Colorado Quest card at the Farmers’ Market to withdraw an amount from their SNAP accounts and the market will match up to $10 in additional SNAP funds so the recipient will have 10 additional dollars to spend on fresh produce and qualifying products. The program, offered since 2012, has matched thousands of dollars for SNAP recipients.

In addition to special events and music most Saturdays (check the website and Facebook pages for the most up-to-date information), volunteer Master Gardeners and Master Food Safety Advisors from the CSU Extension Office in Larimer County will be available at each market to answer gardening and food preservation questions.

The LCFM is located in the Larimer County Courthouse parking lot, 200 W. Oak Street in Fort Collins. The website is www.larimercountyfarmersmarket.org and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/larimercountyfarmersmarket
